In November 2024, we officially opened our new flagship residential treatment centre, Gordon Moody House, in Redditch. The opening events welcomed stakeholders and alumni to the new centre and the official opening was conducted by former professional footballer Steve Bull.

This state-of-the-art centre will expand capacity to provide life-saving to individuals struggling with severe gambling-related harms, offering a safe space for recovery and rehabilitation.

A new centre for new beginnings

Providing a range of tailored residential programmes that blend cutting-edge therapies with holistic approaches, Gordon Moody House will help service s address the underlying causes of gambling-related harms and them them move on to reclaim and rebuild their lives.

Gambling-related harm devastates lives, tear through families, careers, and mental wellbeing. We have seen a surge in demand for our services, a testament to the growing need for specialised in battling sever gambling harm.

Alumni

As part of the opening our Lived Experience and Engagement Lead, David Hollingsworth, chaired a talk featuring eight alumni from our treatment and affected others programmes.

Dave commented:

“Our Redditch opening was a fantastic two-day event that showcased Gordon Moody House and the pivotal role it will play in the future direction of travel for residential rehabilitation centres.

“Being able to chair an alumni comprised of people who had been in receipt of treatment across our various programmes during the last 53 years was a real privilege. It gave our guests an insight into life though the years at Gordon Moody and we heard how important surroundings are as a platform for recovery.

“It is an exciting time for all Gordon Moody colleagues and it feels great to be a part of this latest chapter in our long history.”

Clinical data presentation

Our Clinical Director, Rosalind Baker-Frampton, presented details of our programme outcomes, along with an update on our recent research into gambling and comorbidities.

Following her presentation, Rosalind said:

“The excellent outcomes from our research-led treatment programme are testament to the tireless work that our therapists, recovery workers, and staff do every day.

“I am delighted that we can now offer even more people the treatment and that they deserve, in a recovery-focused environment.”

Gambling First Aid training presentation

Training Services Manager, Lisa Hartland, presented a taster session from our new Gambling First Aid Training. This unique training programme equips people with the knowledge and skills to recognise the signs of problem gambling and confidently offer to those in need.

Our history is marked by continuous evolution and adaption to the changing landscape of gambling and its impacts. From opening our first residential treatment facility to expanding services to women and developing innovative treatment models like the Retreat & Counselling programme, we have ed thousands in their journey to recovery.

Our success stories speak for themselves – individuals who have rebuilt their lives, mended their relationships, and found new purpose after their treatment.
